ArtEscape OPEN STUDIO ACRYLIC PAINTING FOR ADULTS
In this "open studio" setting, you will learn the importance of designing your painting, leading the eye, selecting colors for the right mood and following through with shadows. Painting techniques and lessons in art history are taught throughout the course. Guidance is individualized with the instructor rotating from student to student. Information about upcoming art shows and events is made available when relevant.
THE ART OF DRAWING
A creative and fun class for teen and adults. Students are welcome to bring ideas and images with them, or take inspiration from the variety of resources available in the classroom. In this open studio setting, students will get individual instruction about how-to-draw. In addition, the class will learn about values and hues through the use of graphite, charcoal and/or colored pencils. Make time...to make art!
CARTOONING WITH GUY DORIAN
Cartoon style illustrations are used for various types of projects. In this class we will explore the different ways to illustrate and use cartoons in the art world. This class is great for anyone wanting to create their own characters, create their own stories and utilize cartoons in their own way. A definite hit!
CHILDREN'S PAINTING
This class is perfect for children who want to learn how to paint. During the session, your child will create a drawing, a painting on canvas, and a finished frame. The children will learn with step-by-step instruction how to draw, mix colors, and apply brushstrokes to create their masterpieces. Each session will have a different theme inspired by a famous artist.
CLAY AND CERAMICS FOR CHILDREN
This class teaches your children how to mold, shape and create with clay. Clay is a mediaum that allows children to express their ideas in 3-D. Basic hand building techniques are taught to the beginners, while more experienced students get to focus on more detailed surface descigns and glazing techniques.
COME DRAW WITH ELAINE FOR TEENS AND ADULTS
Drawing – Believing that everyone can draw, Elaine will take you from flat, linear drawing to 3-dimensional portraits with values using right brain techniques. Start seeing the world with a more holistic point of view, using graphite, charcoal, and color pencil mediums. Self portraits included.
COME DRAW WITH ELAINE FOR CHILDREN
Students learn drawing techniques based on creative right brain vision. They also learn the proper pencils, paper and colored pencil methods to create life-like animals, landscapes and profile portraits. This class builds self-esteem and confidence that carries over into school activities as well.
COME DRAW WITH GUY DORIAN
Come draw what YOU want to draw with other art enthusiasts! Guy Dorian has been a professional artist for nearly twenty years. He will guide students through each picture to produce masterpieces they never could have imagined being able to create! Students will learn as they draw, and enjoy drawing what THEY want!.
CREATIVE DRAWING
In each eight week session, students will create drawings using a variety of media, including pencil, ink, oil pastel, charcoal and more! Mark Kolessar will lead the students in a step-by-step process to draw each piece. The class will emphasize the elements of shape, form and shadow in making each drawing come to life. Even multi-media projects will be created, combining a few differnt mediums and skills learned.
DESIGN & SEW
This is a unique fashion design program that allows students to transform an idea into tangible form. The program is comprised of two parts (Design for weeks 1 to 4 and Sew for weeks 5 to 8). Student will be exposed to fashion sketching techniques, flat sketching, presentation boards, fabric styling, understanding a pattern, cutting fabric, and more!
DESIGN, SEW & CREATE
In this class, students will be exposed to sewing machines, construction detail, patterns, fabric, safety, and more! They will create fun designs like pillows or tote bags on their own, and learn in the process. Each eight week session is full of new and exciting opportunities.
DRAPING & TECHNICAL DESIGN
Learn how to make apparel based on your own design sketch! Classes will involve fashion sketching, the metric system, garment construction detail, pattern layouts, grading, and draping on dress forms.
DRAWING AND PASTELS WITH ELAINE
Learn to draw using negative space in order to get the positive subject matter. Focusing on edges, contours, and shapes, Elaine will guide you to create a landscape or portrait. Then, using the forgiving medium of pastels, learn to finish your drawings with the three dimensional depth of color and shading.
DRAWING AND WATERCOLOR WITH ELAINE
Bring the translucent brilliance of watercolors into your creative view. Develop the layering techniques by leaving the white of the paper for your highlights. You will discover why this medium captures everyone’s artistic awareness.
DRAWING YOUR FAVORITE CARTOON CHARACTERS
In this class, students will study many fine art techniques as well as how to apply them to their comic and fantasy illustrations. We will discuss different subjects such as 3-Dimensional forms, figures, color, light and shading, comic book page layout and much, much more! A very popular class with both the parents and the students, as it is not only educational, but fun as well.
FINE ART PORTFOLIO PREP
Creating an original and diversified portfolio is a requirement for any teen applying for acceptance into a college art program. This class offers lessons in color theory, composition, and the importance of edges, along with Old Masters’ drawing techniques and lessons in art history. An assignment is clearly presented at the start of each session and students are told to be creative, even if that means bending the "rules." With the encouragement, direction and guidance that the teens receive from their teacher, they will build their confidence and find their purpose in art.
FASHION SEWING
Fashion Sewing is an 8-week "basic" sewing class exposes students to a variety of fundamental sewing skills. Some of these include the following: flat sketching, fabric styling, the metric system, understaing a pattern, cutting fabric against a pattern, sewing with a machine and sewing machine safety. All supplies are included.
FASHION DESIGN FOR TEENS
Teens will learn about fashion sketching and design for the first few classes, and then move to creating some of their own pieces. They will learn the fundamentals of sewing, and good design in a fun way to see if they want a career in fashion for thier future.
FUNDAMENTALS OF ILLUSTRATION
Did you ever see a picture and want to know how it's done? Did you ever draw something and say" something's not right; I wish I knew how to fix it"? Can you paint but not draw as well as you would like? Do you draw well, but simply want to be the best you can be? This is your ticket to understanding the world of drawing!
KID'S ART
This class is designed for children ages 5-8. Your child will be introduced to basic shapes and colors. These basic building blocks will provide a solid foundation for future art lovers and artists. Children will explore the great world of art using colored pencils, oil pastels, clay, paper and paint. This unique learning experience places an emphasis on having fun while exploring their creativity.
MANGA AND ANIME
Students now have the opportunity to learn this fantastic art form in the traditional Japanese way. All classes involve illustration and storyboarding techniques, as well as teach professional coloring techniques of Manga and Anime art. Any person who has an interest in Anime or Manga should definitely sign up!
MULTI-MEDIA ART
Children ages 8-12 will explore the world of both two and three dimensional media. Pencil, colored pencil, acrylic painting and clay will be among the media children will be exposed to. Students will learn by following the teacher in a step-by-step method that allows the child to see projects take shape from beginning to end.
OIL PAINTING FOR ADULTS
Basic training in realistic painting, principles of light, form, shadow, value, color and composition. The instructor and student will work on a one-on-one basis. Individual subject matter is selected by the student and brought to the first class. Color photographic images are suggested.
PAINTING AND DRAWING
In this classes, students will be exposed to acrylic paints, and a variety of different drawing tools. They will complete multiple projects in the eight week session to show off to family and friends. If your child wants to try something new out, or make a commitment to art, this is the perfect class for them.
TEEN ART
Students will work on their own projects in a workshop format that is based on assignments from the instructor. This class will help teens discover their creativity, individuality, and unique style. Assignments are usually based on ideas that are relevant in contemporary artworks, as well as the work of the masters. Students will work toward building a body of work that can be used as a portfolio.
TEEN AND ADULT DRAWING
The class will be extremely informative on taking the next step to "see" the world and its its environment through your eyes as never before. Fine YOUR voice in the art world. Artistic expression, human anatomy and three-dimensonal art will be explored. Learn about art's most important fundamentals and take your artwork to the next level using these fundamentals as building blocks. A must for any teen or adult who want to be the best artist they can be.
